Mark Lehner has been working in Egypt since 1973. He currently directs an international, interdisciplinary team of archaeologists and specialists at the site of the ancient pyramid settlement at the Giza Pyramids.

For more than twenty years, AERA has been the umbrella under which a variety of projects have taken shape. AERA's Lost City excavation is an extension of the Giza Plateau Mapping Project. As we examine the ancient Egyptian cultural landscape, new ways of looking at this civilization suggest new ways of investigation.
